Prep roundup: Clayton Valley Charter and De La Salle basketball among Friday’s winners

Boys basketball

Clayton Valley Charter 70, San Ramon Valley 60

Clayton Valley Charter’s explosive backcourt was too much for San Ramon Valley to handle at the Gridley Invitational. James Moore scored 20 points for the Ugly Eagles, and teammate Elijah Perryman had 15 points and 11 assists.

Matthew Diekmann led SRV with 17 points, and Seamus Deeley had 15 points and nine rebounds. Elliott Conley also scored eight points for the Wolves. 

St Joseph-Santa Maria 82, St Francis 56

Five-star junior wing Tounde Yessoufou entered Friday averaging 37 points-per game for St. Joseph, and raised his scoring average with a 42-point night against St. Francis in Mountain View. Teammate Julius Price scored 16 points as the visitors ran past the home team. 

Salesian 82, Clovis North 56

Alvin Loving IV scored a team-high 18 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had five assists in another dominant victory at the Gridley Invitational. Deundrae Perteet scored 15 and had eight rebounds too.

Salesian also got nine points from Carlton Perrilliat Jr., eight from Amani Johnson and Elias Obenyah. Aaron Claytor set the table for his teammates with nine assists. 

Connor Admundsen showed why he is a three-star recruit, scoring a game-high 29 points for Clovis North. 

Branson 63, Archbishop Riordan 51

Branson continued its hot start, comfortably defeating one of the WCAL’s top teams at Gridley. Illinois commit Jase Butler scored 16 points and dished out six assists for Branson. 

Andrew Younghil scored 16 points to lead Riordan, and Zion Sensley scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Jordy McKenzie scored nine points on three second-half 3-pointers. 

De La Salle 65, St. Mary’s-Berkeley 29

De La Salle rolled past St. Mary’s-Berkeley to advance to the Christian Brother’s Classic. Alec Blair scored 14 points to lead the Spartans, and Ibrahim Monawar continued his strong start to the season by scoring 12 points. 

Girls basketball

Archbishop Mitty 76, Marin Catholic 20

Archbishop Mitty routed Marin Catholic 76-20 and improved to 2-0. McKenna Woliczko led the way with 24 points, making 11 of 14 shots and one three-pointer. Morgan Cheli scored 18 points grabbed eight rebounds (seven offensive) and dished out eight assists. Belle Bramer scored eight points, and Niyati Bangalore scored six as 11 different Mitty players scored.

Boys soccer

Serra 3, Menlo-Atherton 1

Nate Coughlin scored twice for the Padres, and Edward Velazquez scored the other goal as Serra defeated M-A. Junior Adrian McGrievy also had an assist for the San Mateo school. 

Newark Memorial 2, Washington-Fremont 0

Noel Cabrales scored a brace – two goals – off assists from Sean Rante and Ricardo Aceves. Eriberto Bermudez also had two saves in goal to keep a clean sheet.

Girls soccer

Branham 4, Willow Glen 0

Four different Branham attackers – Kaelyn Kubota, Bianca du Preez, Brooklyn Borbons and Nyah Cubiss – scored as Branham routed Willow Glen. 

Albany 5, Mt. Pleasant 1

Caroline Alanis scored a hattrick – three goals – for Albany, while teammates Avery Cohen and Nyah Hartwell both scored one goal each. Gemma Jusseaume set up teammates for scores on two assists. 

Berean Christian 6, Gateway 0

Morgan Phalen had herself a day against Gateway, scoring four goals and dishing out one assist. Ashleigh Carroll scored once and had three assists, and freshman Caitlyn Carroll also scored a goal.
