OAKLAND — A woman was killed and two other people were injured Tuesday morning in a traffic collision in West Oakland, authorities said.
The woman’s identity was not immediately released, pending confirmation and notification of her next of kin.
The collision happened just before 11 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 16th Street and Mandela Parkway. Police said that according to initial reports, a Ford Fusion driven by a man was speeding eastbound on 16th Street when it struck a Honda sedan that was going northbound on Mandela Parkway.

The woman driving the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. A woman who was a passenger in the Honda and the driver of the Ford were both transported to a hospital, where their conditions were not immediately available Tuesday.
The impact caused both vehicles to end up on a sidewalk, striking at least one parked vehicle. No other injuries were reported.
Traffic around the intersection was likely to be affected for several hours while police investigate.
