Suspect charged with hate crime at Saratoga Bottle Shop

Dec. 4

Residential burglary: At 8:21 a.m., someone entered a residence in the 12000 block of Country Squire Lane by breaking a rear glass door and stole cameras, checkbooks and jewelry of an unknown value.

Petty theft: At 2:12 p.m., two suspects stole three surveillance cameras from the exterior of a residence in the 14000 block of Saratoga Avenue for a total loss estimated at $750.

Loitering, assault, hate crime, resisting a peace officer: At 5:27 p.m., deputies responded to a disturbance at the Saratoga Bottle Shop on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. An investigation revealed the suspect was loitering, was asked to leave by the business owner and then became confrontational, made derogatory comments and chased the owner around the store. The suspect fled the scene but was located a short time later. The suspect resisted detention, spitting at deputies and attempting to headbutt them, but was ultimately arrested.

Grand theft: At 7:06 p.m., deputies responded to a theft call at a residence in the 15000 block of Sobey Road. An investigation revealed the suspect stole mail packages left near the front gate of the residence. The suspect was identified and located a short time later, still in possession of the stolen property, which was valued at over $6,000. The property was returned to the victims, and the suspect was arrested.

Dec. 6

Vandalism: Overnight, someone damaged an ATM at Comerica Bank on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. The total amount of damage was estimated at somewhere between $500 and $1,000.

Vehicle tampering, stolen/recovered license plates: At 11:30 a.m., deputies responded to an automated license plate reader notification for a vehicle with stolen license plates at Saratoga Avenue and Highway 85. An investigation revealed the plates were stolen from a vehicle in San Jose and were still outstanding. Deputies located and stopped the vehicle a short time later. Further investigation revealed, however, that unbeknownst to the driver, the vehicle’s actual license plates were also stolen and replaced with the plates stolen from San Jose.

String of vehicle break-ins reported in Campbell

Possession of stolen vehicle, controlled substance and drug paraphernalia: At 10:41 p.m., deputies responded to an automated license plate reader notification for a stolen vehicle at Saratoga Avenue and Highway 85. An investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen from San Francisco and was still outstanding. Deputies located and stopped the vehicle a short time later. Further investigation revealed the driver was also in possession of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine.

Dec. 8

DUI, injury collision: At 11:45 p.m., deputies responded to a traffic collision involving two vehicles at Quito Road and Paseo Lado. An investigation revealed one motorist was driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested.

Dec. 9

Mail theft, vandalism, possession of stolen property, forgery, identity theft: At 3 a.m., two suspects broke open the mailboxes of multiple residences in the 13000 block of Ronnie Way, stole mail of an unknown value and caused damage estimated at approximately $1,000. With the assistance of a license plate reader camera, deputies identified the suspects’ vehicle, and in turn, one of the suspects, who was located hours later. Further investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of stolen mail, checks and credit cards, in violation of the suspect’s probation terms. That suspect was arrested, while the other is unknown and at large.
