49ers-Cardinals pregame: Defense will have Dre Greenlaw, Charvarius Ward

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The 49ers’ defense were in jeopardy of playing today without five starters because of injuries, but two of those in question will indeed suit up to face the Cardinals: linebacker Dre Greenlaw and cornerback Charvarius Ward.

Greenlaw (hip, ankle) and Ward (groin) sustained injuries in last Sunday’s 28-16 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Both were limited Friday; Ward left after four snaps last game.

Ruled out Friday were defensive tackles Arik Armstead (foot, knee) and Javon Hargrave (hamstring), and linebacker Oren Burks (knee), along with running back Elijah Mitchell (knee) and tight end Ross Dwelley (ankle).

Right guard Spencer Burford (knee) is out a second straight game. The only other player on their inactive list was quarterback Brandon Allen, their No. 3 quarterback who’s yet to be summoned for a game this season.

Left guard Aaron Banks (hip) is active.

Elevated on Saturday from the practice squad were defensive tackle T.Y. McGill and running back Jeremy McNichols.

CARDINALS’ MOVES

Suiting up for the Cardinals despite health issues are safety Budda Baker (illness) and wide receivers Marquise Brown (heel) and Michael Wilson (neck.

The Cardinals deactivated safety Qwuantrezz Knight, linebacker Tyreke Smith, tight end Blake Whiteheart and offensive lineman Carter O’Donnell and Dennis Daley.
