Officers were called to Snow and Giusti drives, near Great Oaks Park, around 4:20 a.m. Sunday for reports of gunshots, San Jose police Sgt. Jorge Garibay said in a news release Monday afternoon. They arrived to find evidence of a shooting but no victims.
A short time later, two men arrived at a hospital with at least one gunshot wound each, Garibay said.
One of the victims died of his injuries, marking San Jose’s 33rd homicide of the year. At this time last year, police had investigated 35 homicides.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.
Garibay said the other victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was listed in stable condition.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation, Garibay said. No arrests were announced Monday.
