BART facing major delays near SFO; bus transfers required

BART trains faced major delays Friday morning near San Francisco International Airport, providing a hurdle for travelers ahead of the holiday weekend.

The transit agency said just before 8 a.m. the delays were occurring between Millbrae and SFO in all directions due to “unscheduled maintenance.” It was not immediately clear what the exact problems were.

There is a major delay between Millbrae and San Francisco Int’l Airport in the Antioch, Richmond, SFO and Millbrae directions due to unscheduled track maintenance.

BART said in an alert that travelers on the red line headed to Millbrae from Richmond would need to transfer to an SFO-bound train at the Colma station, and again transfer to a Millbrae train from SFO. For travelers heading in the Richmond direction, they’d need to board the SFO shuttle at Millbrae and take the yellow line from SFO to 19th Street Oakland before transferring to a Richmond-bound train.
