OAKLAND — A woman running across traffic lanes on Interstate 880 in East Oakland on Tuesday night died after she was struck by a pickup truck, the California Highway Patrol said.
The coroner’s office was trying to identify the woman Wednesday. She appeared to be between 30 and 40-years old.
The fatal collision happened about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the northbound lanes of I-880 at High Street.
The CHP received reports of a woman running in the traffic lanes who was then struck by a pickup truck in the lane closest to the center divider. She died at the scene.

The truck driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators, CHP Officer Adib Zeid said. He said there were no signs the driver was impaired.
Zeid said investigators are trying to determine why the woman was on the freeway. He said no disabled vehicles that might be associated with her were found in the area.
Three lanes of the freeway were shut down for several hours while the CHP investigated.
