Antioch: Two of three suspects take plea deals in fatal gas station shooting

ANTIOCH — Two of three men arrested in connection with a 2021 shooting have accepted plea deals, court records show.

Raymond Jenkins, a suspect in the killing of 25-year-old Johnta White, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced in October to 16 years in state prison. His co-defendant, Daniel Lee Whigham, accepted a conviction of accessory after the fact with a two-year prison term and two years probation, court records show.

Jenkins was intially charged with murdering White to benefit a street gang, court records show.

White and another man were shot near a gas station in the 3700 block of Lone Tree Way at about 10:50 a.m. ON Nov. 10, 2021. White died four days later. The other man survived.

In early 2022, police identified Jenkins and another man, 25-year-old Robert Matthews, as the primary suspects. Matthews remained a fugitive until last August, when he was arrested on the outstanding murder warrant. He remains jailed on pending charges of murder, attempted murder and shooting into an occupied dwelling, court records show.
