ALL-BAY AREA NEWS GROUP FOOTBALL 2023

UTILITY PLAYERS

First team

Redmani Albert, McClymonds, 5-10, 175, senior

Oakland Athletic League MVP played quarterback, running back and defense for league champion and NorCal Division 3-A finalist. 

Tim Daugherty, Campolindo, 5-9, 170, senior

Had 10 touchdowns to lead his team in scoring. First-team all-DAL Foothill. Led Campo in receiving yards with 595 and also ran for 256 yards and had 33 tackles.

Kamani Jackson, El Cerrito, 6-0, 175, senior

First-team all-TCAL Rock bound for Washington State. Stand out on defense and offense. Caught three TD passes in a victory over Heritage in NCS Division II semifinal.

Paul Kuhner, Acalanes, 6-0, 185, senior

First-team all-DAL Foothill. Had numerous big plays, including TD catch to clinch Division 3-AA state championship victory.

Sava Pouridis, Las Lomas, 5-11, 195, senior

Defensive MVP in DAL Foothill. Linebacker led the Knights in tackles with 86, including five behind the line of scrimmage. Also rushed for 880 yards and 10 touchdowns. 

Second team

Elias Antillon, Branham, 5-9, 145, senior

BVAL Santa Teresa Foothill MVP. Rushed for 1,471 yards and 12 TDS, caught 535 receiving yards and six more touchdowns. Also had 35 tackles as a defensive back. 

Julian McMahan, Monte Vista, 6-2, 210, junior

Named first-team all-EBAL Mountain. Ran for 1,113 yards and 16 touchdowns and also caught 25 passes for 293 yards and three TDs. 

Jamar Searcy, Pittsburg, 5-8, 180, junior

Sat out the first five games after transferring from Liberty, then rushed for 971 yards and 10 TDs in 97 attempts, caught two TD passes and played defense for 13-1 team.

John “Sharky” Tamale, McClymonds, 6-0, 210, junior

First-team all-Oakland Athletic League. Highlights included 142 yards and two touchdowns rushing in a rout of Bishop O’Dowd.

Lucas Zayac, Capuchino, 5-7, 170, junior

PAL Ocean’s player of the year. Helped Mustangs win nine games. Threw a halfback pass for a TD in fourth quarter to beat Aragon, a win Cap needed to share league title.
