Driver hospitalized after vehicle was hit by Caltrain in Burlingame

BURLINGAME — A person was hospitalized after their vehicle was hit by a northbound Caltrain in Burlingame just before 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, the commuter rail line confirmed.

The incident occurred at 5:59 a.m. at the Broadway crossing, according to Caltrain Public Information Officer Dan Lieberman. The driver of the vehicle was hospitalized, though no other updates in regard to their condition or extent of injuries have been provided.

Caltrain fatally strikes person in Menlo Park

It’s not currently clear whether additional passengers were inside the vehicle. As of 6:30 a.m., trains were being held in the area until the scene could be cleared.

There were 36 passengers aboard the train as it hit the vehicle, though no other injuries were reported.
