Woman killed in Oakland hit-and-run crash near uptown; no suspect identified

OAKLAND — A woman was killed just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday when a vehicle struck her in a hit-and-run collision near uptown Oakland, according to police.

The crash was reported at 12:56 p.m. near the 2300 block of San Pablo Avenue. A woman, a 59-year-old Oakland resident, was crossing the street when she was hit by an unknown vehicle that kept going after the collision. Police said the woman, who was yet to be publicly identified as of Wednesday morning, was pronounced dead at the scene.

As of Wednesday morning, no description of the vehicle or driver has been released. The driver was last seen going northbound on San Pablo, according to police.
