Mills basketball player Sofia Kwan is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for Jan. 15-20.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, she finished with 34.67% of the votes to edge Castro Valley soccer player Hailey Smith, who finished second at 32.21%.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Kwan, a junior, knocked down the buzzer-beating game-winner from mid-range to give Mills a 33-31 victory over Aragon. She also scored 14 points in the next game, a victory over Half Moon Bay.
