Renowned journalist and author Juan González will kick off the the annual Los Medanos College Equity Speaker Series on Tuesday.
Gonzalez’s talk will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the LMC Pittsburg Campus Student Union Conference Center, 2700 E. Leland Road.
Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to arrive early for the best seating.
González, an esteemed journalist and author, is known for poignant reporting on labor, immigration and social justice. He received the George Polk Award and authored “Harvest of Empire: A History of Latinos in America.”
He also co-hosts the radio and television program “Democracy Now,” an independent news hour, with Amy Goodman.
The Equity Speakers Series aims to bring influential figures to campus to foster dialogue, raise awareness, and promote understanding, according to an LMC spokesman.
LMC’s Puente Club, Office of Equity and Inclusion, Department of Journalism, and Department of Ethnic Studies and Social Studies partnered to sponsor this event.
