Pedestrian killed in Oakland hit-and-run

OAKLAND — A man died Monday afternoon in East Oakland after he was struck by a vehicle that kept going, authorities said.

The collision happened about 12:49 p.m. on the 9500 block of International Boulevard, in the Elmhurst Park area.

The man person was apparently crossing the street when he was hit by an SUV, authorities said.  The driver fled in the vehicle.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A detailed description of the SUV and its driver were not immediately released.

A portion of International Boulevard was shut down while police investigated.
