East Bay man arrested in connection with Marin shopping center burglaries

Novato police arrested a suspect who allegedly burglarized two businesses at a shopping center.

The theft occurred Thursday night at a restaurant and a fitness center at The Square Shopping Center on Novato Boulevard.

Security cameras recorded a man stealing items such as registers and safes. San Pablo police later contacted the suspect during a traffic stop and found the stolen items in the suspect’s vehicle, which also was stolen, Novato police reported.

Paul Amey Jr., 42, of Hercules, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, identity theft and providing a false name to police. He was booked into the Marin County jail. His bail was set at $135,500, according to jail records.
