The 43-year-old Menlo Park resident was released from the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

“The error was discovered immediately, and the sheriff’s office took swift action to safely locate the individual,” the sheriff’s office said.

The inmate was found late Wednesday morning in Mountain View, according to authorities. He was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose.

The sheriff’s office said the inmate was previously arrested in October for bench warrants.

A “thorough review” will be done to determine how the error happened, according to authorities.
