Vallejo police on Friday arrested a man for allegedly stealing approximately $900 worth of LEGO sets.
The burglary took place at the 700 block of Admiral Callaghan Lane. Officers were told that an adult male had stolen LEGO sets from a store and the the suspect had driven off in a Hyundai Sonata.
Shortly after, a patrol unit located the Sonata traveling westbound on Redwood Street near Fairgrounds Drive. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over, leading to an 11-mile pursuit.
According to a news release from Vallejo Police Department, a male passenger jumped out of the Sonata while it was traveling at approximately 50 mph. Officers continued pursuing the driver until he lost control and collided with a retaining wall on Mississippi Street near Sacramento Street.

The driver was arrested and transported to the hospital for medical clearance before incarceration. A records check revealed he had two outstanding felony warrants for grand theft and a traffic-related offense.
Officers searched the area where the passenger jumped out and were tipped off by a resident about an unknown male hiding in their back-yard trashcan. Entering the residence’s rear, officers located the injured thief. According to the news release, the thief admitted to stealing and selling LEGO sets for income.
The suspect was admitted to a local hospital for significant injuries sustained from jumping out of a moving vehicle. A records check also revealed he was on parole for possessing a stolen vehicle.
