Check fraud: Between 3 p.m. on Jan. 20 to 3 p.m. on Jan. 22, someone took a check from a Saratoga  resident’s mailbox, changed the name on the check and cashed it for a total loss of $1,000.

Theft by false pretense: Between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., someone called a Saratoga resident claiming to be a representative from PayPal. The suspect told the victim she needed to provide her personal information in order to block a possible fraudulent transaction. The victim provided her banking and personal information to the suspect, which the suspect used to withdraw $469 from the victim’s account.

Feb. 10

Evading a peace officer, stolen vehicle, identity theft, possession of burglary tools and stolen property: At 4:42 a.m., deputies responded to an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) alert of a stolen vehicle at Saratoga-Sunnyvale and Prospect roads. Deputies located and attempted to stop the vehicle at Big Basin Way and Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, but the driver fled with wanton disregard for public safety and was later apprehended in the city of Los Gatos after colliding with a fence. An investigation revealed the suspect possessed burglary tools and stolen personal identifying information. The suspect was booked into main jail.
