A DNA laboratory comparison done by the California Department of Justice has led to the identification of the body of a Vallejo woman last seen alive in 1992.
Skeletal remains found in a creek bed off of Pine Flat Road near Healdsburg more than 30 years ago have now been identified as Robin Fay Hedrick.
While the remains were discovered on Aug. 9, 1993, more than three decades ago, the case remained cold due to the extent of the decomposition of the bones, according to investigators.

It wasn’t until 2022 — when the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office submitted the “Jane Joe” DNA samples to the DNA Doe Project — that investigators were able to make some movement in the case. When the Project ran the sample, they were able to identify a possible relative and, in 2023, a California Department of Justice DNA laboratory further compared the “Jane Doe” DNA sample with a person investigators had reason to believe may be the victim’s son, and she was identified as Robin Fay Hedrick.
At this time, investigators say little is known about Hedrick, besides she was born in 1953 and lived in Vallejo.
“She was last seen alive in Vallejo in February 1992,” read a release issued by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. “We’re asking the public for any information about Robin’s life in hopes of providing answers about her suspicious death.”
