SANTA CRUZ COUNTY – A motorist hit and injured four bicyclists Tuesday evening in the Santa Cruz Mountains, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision happened around 6:20 p.m. on Highway 9 near Glengarry Road, said CHP Officer Israel Murillo. After hitting the bicyclists, the motorist crashed into a tree.
The bicyclists were taken to area hospitals, some with major injuries, according to Murillo.
Additional details about the collision were not immediately available Tuesday evening.
Highway 9 was closed for roughly two hours while the CHP investigated the crash, Murillo said.
