Cupertino gets for $850k for reconstruction project

Bridge funds

The City of Cupertino was recently awarded $850,000 from the House Appropriations Committee for the McClellan Road Bridge Reconstruction Project. The project is among 15 in the South Bay for which US Rep. Ro Khanna secured almost $14.8 million in funding for fiscal year 2024-25.

The funding will be used for reconstruction of the McClellan Road Bridge, which is over 100 years old and has been poorly rated by Caltrans. McClellan Road is a major east-west connector road for the city, and the bridge is vital infrastructure for emergency response. The bridge also lacks adequate facilities for pedestrians and bicyclists. The project proposes to reconstruct the bridge to address these concerns.
