Police officials on Friday said the suspect, a Vallejo juvenile, was taken into custody last week by the Special Operations Team on Interstate 80 near Red Top Road.

The juvenile was wanted in connection to a Feb. 2 incident in which a gang-related shooting occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. behind the Walgreens on North Texas Street and Atlantic Avenue in Fairfield. During the incident, officials say one person was struck by gunfire, and bullets narrowly missed a second person before the shooter fled the scene.
According to officials, SOT had identified the responsible person and obtained a probable cause arrest warrant within hours of the incident but the suspect was not arrested until April 5.
The victim, who officials said was also a minor, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition following the incident and was later released.
