SEASIDE – Two police officers and another individual were hurt in a confrontation Monday morning in Seaside. None of the injuries were expected to be life-threatening said Seaside Police Chief Nick Borges.
Borges said that a call came in of “someone behaving erratically.” When officers arrived they encountered a person who had a device that hurled projectiles at the officers. Though both officers was injured, at least one officer was “hit in the head” and at least one of them discharged his firearm hitting the suspect.
The officer-involved shooting incident occurred at Fremont Boulevard and Playa Avenue in Seaside. Borges said the Monterey County District Attorney’s Officer, and crime scene investigators were on site to process the investigation. Borges did not know how many times the officer(s) fired.
Borges said he was on his way to an area hospital to check on the officers’ and the suspect’s conditions.
“Last I heard, everybody is expected to survive,” he said.
