MOSS LANDING — A 52-year-old Salinas man driving a moped westbound on Castroville Boulevard was killed before 6 a.m. Wednesday in a vehicle collision outside Moss Landing.
The moped driver, whose name was not immediately released pending notification of next of kin, was struck by a 27-year-old Watsonville man driving a 2014 Honda Civic. The Civic driver was traveling eastbound on Castroville Boulevard and preparing to make a left turn onto northbound Elkhorn Road and directly into the path of the moped, according to the Monterey-area California Highway Patrol.

The driver of the red 2014 Honda Forza Moped was pronounced dead at the scene. CHP officials have determined that alcohol is not a factor in this crash and had not made any arrests related to the crash as of Wednesday afternoon.
