SAN RAMON — A suspect was arrested and a gun recovered in his vehicle in a non-injury shooting Sunday on Interstate 680, the California Highway Patrol said.
The suspect, a 42-year-old Foresthill resident, was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of attempted murder and weapons crimes and was being held in lieu of $920,000 bail, authorities said.
The CHP said the shooting happened about 5:33 p.m. Sunday on Interstate 680 north of Alcosta Boulevard.
It was not clear what prompted the shooting. None of the people in the other vehicle were injured.
Officers from the CHP”s Dublin office began an investigation after receiving a 911 call. The CHP said the victims provided the suspect’s vehicle description and the information was broadcast to surrounding police departments.
Within moments, the San Ramon Police Department spotted the vehicle and initiated an enforcement stop, the CHP said.
After further investigation, CHP officers arrested the suspect in connection with the shooting. A firearm was recovered from his vehicle.
