Alameda softball player Miley Gradney is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for May 13-18.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Gradney had 41.57% of the vote to finish ahead of Taylor Oden, an Archbishop Mitty track and field athlete who took second at 32.58%.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Gradney, a freshman, came up big in Alameda’s North Coast Section Division II quarterfinals win over Bishop O’Dowd. She tied the game with a bases-loaded walk, and then gave the Hornets a lead they would not relinquish when she doubled in a run in the 10th inning.
