BottleRock Napa: You don’t want to miss these 3 acts on Day One

Tens of thousands of music lovers are descending on BottleRock Napa Valley on Friday — Day 1 of the festival — with the intent of seeing big-name headliners Stevie Nicks and Megan Thee Stallion perform.

Yet, there are a lot of other cool acts on the bill — some of whom won’t be all that familiar to many attendees.

Here are three lesser-known acts that you definitely don’t want to miss on Day 1 at the festival. For more information, visit bottlerocknapavalley.com.

Grace Bowers

There’s a big buzz surrounding this teenage blues-rock artist, who hails from the Bay Area but is now based in Nashville. Check out this set if you want to experience some seriously amazing guitar work.

“Guitar is an extension of me and a way to communicate my feelings,” Bowers is quoted as saying on the festival’s website. “It’s all about the feel, especially when I’m playing blues. I’m just trying to have my own voice on the guitar.”

Bowers plays the JaM Cellars Stage at 12:30 p.m. and the JaMPad stage at 7:30 p.m.

Chris Shiflett

The name may or may not sound all that familiar to you. But we can pretty much guarantee that you’ve heard him play before — unless you’ve somehow managed to avoid hearing one of the biggest rock bands of the last 30 years. Shiflett’s main job is playing guitar for the Foo Fighters. But he’s also got his own solo thing going, which he will showcase at 4 p.m. on the Prudential Stage and at 7:30 p.m. on the VIP Village Stage by Rakuten.

Chevy Metal

Somewhat sticking on the same theme, we definitely recommend that folks catch this band — which also has ties to the Foo Fighters. Chevy Metal is an awesome hard rock/metal cover band — handling tunes by the likes of Van Halen, Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Talking Heads and, best of all, Black Sabbath. The band previously featured Foo Fighter Taylor Hawkins (who died in 2022) and now includes his son Shane on drums.  Chevy Metal performs at 3 p.m. at the VIP Village Stage and at 5:30 p.m. at the Prudential Stage.
