The male driver was driving near Stony Point Road and Roblar Road, southwest of Rohnert Park, when he went off the roadway and struck a tree just after noon.
CHP spokesman David Derutte said the impact was not that great, and that paramedics determined the man had a fatal medical emergency prior to the crash.
No other vehicles were involved and nobody else was in the victim’s vehicle at the time.
The Sonoma County Coroner will determine an exact cause of death, Derutte said. In the meantime, the investigation by CHP is considered closed.
