Suspect arrested in hit-and-run at Walnut Creek farmers market

WALNUT CREEK — Police arrested a suspect Sunday afternoon following a hit-and-run at the Walnut Creek farmers market early Sunday morning that critically injured two people.

A call was made to police at 5:15 a.m. about the crash, which happened on on Locust Street near Cole Avenue.

Responding officers found two people struck by an SUV. The victims were transported to a hospital.

A police officer located the vehicle and arrested the driver. The names of the victims and driver are being withheld pending investigation.

The weekly farmers market was closed for the day due to the crash and the ongoing  investigation.
