Declare your candidacy
Those interested in running for one of three seats on the Sunnyvale City Council or taking on incumbent Larry Klein for mayor have until Aug. 9 to file the paperwork to get on the Nov. 5 ballot.
Thus far, District 4 councilmember Russell Melton, whose second term expires this year, has declared his intention to run against Klein. Charlsie Chang is the only candidate who has filed to run for Melton’s District 4 seat.
District 6 Councilmember Omar Din is running for the District 26 seat in the state Assembly. Richard Lesher and My Lan Eileen “Eileen” Le are vying for Din’s council seat.
District 2 incumbent Alysa Cisneros has one challenger: James Davis.
Candidates must file intention statements prior to soliciting or receiving campaign contributions or making expenditures from personal funds on behalf of their candidacy. A candidate does not qualify for the ballot until nomination papers have been filed with the city clerk and signatures have been verified as sufficient.
