SAN MATEO — Police have identified a Central Valley woman as the suspect in a shooting reported Thursday off East Hillsdale Boulevard, and released more details about her arrest.
The shooting was reported around 4:45 p.m. Thursday near East Hillsdale Boulevard and South Norfolk Street, and responding officers determined through witness accounts that the incident occurred about a block east of that site on Lagos Street.

Neither a victim nor suspect were still on scene when police arrived, but officers did observe blood droplets and a cell phone left on a sidewalk as well as shell casings nearby, according to a San Mateo police news release.
Soon after, officers were told that the shooter ran into a nearby apartment building, and separately, a gunshot victim surfaced in San Carlos and was taken to a hospital.
Officers surrounded the apartment building, on Lagos Street, and summoned police negotiators who spoke to the suspect, identified as a 34-year-old woman from the Central Valley town of Ceres, south of Modesto.
The woman later surrendered to police, and a search of the apartment she was in recovered a gun that investigators believe was used in the earlier shooting. She was booked into San Mateo County jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle.
