HAYWARD – One teenager was killed and another was injured in a shooting Wednesday morning in Hayward, according to authorities.

Police: Bicyclist killed in Oakland was actually hit by two vehicles that fled scene

The shooting was reported just before 2 a.m. in the 24000 block of 2nd Street, near Hayward High School, the Hayward Police Department said in a news release.

A 15-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene, after officers found him unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. He was identified as resident of Rodeo.

The death marked the city’s fifth homicide of the year.

Around 2:15 a.m., officers learned a second shooting victim had arrived at an area hospital, police said. The victim, identified as a 13-year-old Hayward boy, was in critical but stable condition.

No arrests were announced Wednesday.
