Of course, the larger Trumer Pils company based in Europe dates back to 1775. But to reach two decades for the domestic brewery, which represents the owning family’s interests in the U.S., is pretty good, too.

The block party takes place Saturday, July 13, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Trumer Taproom at 1404 Fourth St., Berkeley. There will be live music from Jane Blonde and the Goldfingers and food from HopMonk Tavern. You can RSVP on Eventbrite, though the brewery says no one will be turned away for not reserving a place.

The event is family friendly, but due to the anticipated attendance the brewery is requesting that dogs be left at home.

The new beer is a kölsch-style ale with an ABV of 4.9 percent and 23 IBUs. It’s made with three kinds of hops — Akoya for bittering, Hersbrucker for aroma and then Noble Hops.

“It’s a light-bodied German-style ale that is hop-forward and malty. This kölsch is dry, fruity, with aromatic hops,” says Chrissy Reinthaler, marketing manager for the Berkeley brewery. “This beer is a nod to our Bavarian heritage and a wonderful companion to pour alongside Trumer Pils. And it tastes great, I’m happy to vouch!”

The Anniversary Ale will be poured exclusively at the taproom, during and after the party, so drop by to get your taste before it potentially disappears forever.
