Woman sentenced to 4 years for 2020 fatal East Bay crash

MARTINEZ — A woman was sentenced to four years in prison for killing a man in a November 2020 crash in Contra Costa, records show.

Mikaila Camel, 27, pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter in the death of Patrick Falconer, and was sentenced four years with 10 days of credit for time served. She began serving her sentence last March, but the case hasn’t been previously reported.

Camel will be eligible for early release in 2026, court records show.

Falconer was injured Nov. 10, 2020, but died several days later, according to court records. Online postings in his memory say he had graduated from De La Salle High School two years earlier.

Camel was initially charged with driving on a suspended license in addition to the manslaughter count, court records show.
