Police identified him as Elijah Scales and said he died at a hospital Thursday. They released no further information; authorities have not announced any arrests.

The homicide investigation is the 11th by Antioch police this year.

Police said at least 30 rounds were fired about 9:35 p.m. in the area of Peppertree Way and Sycamore Drive. Scales was found in the 2200 block of Peppertree Way, police said.

A motive for the shooting is still under investigation, according to police. It was unclear if Scales was involved in the gun battle or was a bystander.
