PALO ALTO — A man in his 80s died Wednesday of injuries he suffered in a solo bicycle crash earlier this week in Palo Alto, police said.

‘Doctor’s report’ still pending for Bay Area woman accused of killing cop during DUI crash

The collision happened around 1:45 p.m. Monday in the 2400 block of Park Boulevard, near California Avenue, according to the Palo Alto Police Department.

The man was riding southbound when he entered a lane closed for construction and fell from his bicycle, police said, adding that he suffered a “major head injury.”

He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died of his injuries, according to police. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his identity after it is confirmed and his next of kin is notified.

Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
