MJ Sushi, a small Bay Area-based chain of sushi restaurants, recently opened its fifth location in Menlo Park and has another set to open in Sausalito by the end of the year, says operations manager Shawn Guy.
The Menlo Park sushi spot already has regulars. “I see the same faces two or three times a week. We already have orders memorized,” Guy says.
The popularity of MJ Sushi, which opened in the space formerly occupied by high-end sushi restaurant Mitsunobu, stems from its comparatively affordable prices, Guy says, but its gluten-free tempura, made with tapioca starch, has also been a hit with customers.
