Bay Area News Group girls volleyball Top 15

No. 1 ST. FRANCIS
Previous ranking: 1
St. Francis did nothing to disqualify itself from the top spot this past week. The Lancers defeated Ventura, Yorba Linda, San Marcos and Clovis in tournament play, dropping just two sets across the four matches. For good measure, they also took down St. Ignatius (3-1) and Sacred Heart Cathedral (3-0) in West Catholic Athletic League play. St. Francis continues its league slate today, facing Valley Christian at 5:30 p.m.
No. 2 ARCHBISHOP MITTY
Previous ranking: 2
The Monarchs had an uneventful week, sweeping Presentation in WCAL action for their only match of the week. Mitty has another light slate this week, facing Sacred Heart Cathedral on Thursday ahead of league matches against Archbishop Riordan and St. Francis next week.
No. 3 JAMES LOGAN
Previous ranking: 10
The Colts continue to run over their competition game after game. They have not lost a set since Aug. 29 and most recently swept American and Moreau Catholic this past week in Mission Valley Athletic League play. They face Washington-Fremont and Newark Memorial in continuing league action this week.
No. 4 CARONDELET
Previous ranking: 8
The Cougars picked up a big win this past week over previous No. 3 Foothill (3-2) and swept Dublin in East Bay Athletic League play. Now 6-0 in the EBAL, Carondelet continues its league slate against Granada and Livermore this week.
No. 5 SAN RAMON VALLEY
Previous ranking: 7
The Wolves are rolling right along as one of the top contenders in the EBAL. SRV is 5-1 in league play and picked up sweeps of Dougherty Valley and Monte Vista last week.
No. 6 FOOTHILL
Previous ranking: 3
The Falcons had their wings clipped a bit by Carondelet, but they’re still flying high with a .750 overall win percentage and a 4-2 record in EBAL play. Foothill also swept Amador Valley last week and faces Dougherty Valley and Granada this week.
No. 7 ST. IGNATIUS
Previous ranking: 4
The Wildcats absorbed a 3-1 loss to St. Francis but rebounded to sweep Riordan in WCAL action. They take on Sacred Heart Cathedral this week with matchups against Valley Christian and Presentation looming the week after.
No. 8 PALO ALTO
Previous ranking: 5
The Vikings picked up a league sweep against Gunn last Tuesday. They face Monta Vista and Los Gatos this week.
No. 9 LOS GATOS
Previous ranking: 12
The Wildcats had an active week, earning sweeps of Hart-Newhall, Dos Pueblos-Goleta and Corona del Mar. They were also swept by Bishop Diego-Santa Barbara in tournament play. Los Gatos rounded out the week with a 3-1 win over Santa Clara Valley – De Anza foe Mountain View.
No. 10 VALLEY CHRISTIAN
Previous ranking: 6
Valley Christian did not play a match last week. The Warriors face St. Francis and Presentation in WCAL play this week.
No. 11 SACRED HEART PREP
Previous ranking: 9
The Gators picked up a win over Notre Dame-Belmont to start off West Bay-Foothill league play. They continue league competition against Menlo School this week.

The Panthers picked up a big win in league play, defeating Menlo-Atherton 3-2. They also swept San Mateo and are 5-0 in league action this season.
No. 13 SACRED HEART CATHEDRAL
Previous ranking: 15
The Irish picked up a 3-1 win over Riordan but struggled with St. Francis, losing 3-0. Another tough week of WCAL play beckons with matchups against St. Ignatius and Mitty.
No. 14 MONTE VISTA
Previous ranking: Not ranked
The Mustangs beat California 3-1 before being swept by San Ramon Valley. They face Dublin and Dougherty Valley in EBAL play this week.
No. 15 MENLO-ATHERTON
Previous ranking: 11
The Bears narrowly lost to Burlingame but rebounded to take down Carlmont in a league sweep. PAL Bay action continues this week for M-A against Hillsdale and Aragon.
