RICHMOD — The cause of a two-alarm fire Wednesday that displaced 10 residents and killed a pet dog remained under investigation Thursday, officials said.
No residents or firefighters were injured, officials said.
The fire erupted about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday outside the rear of a residence in the 3900 block of Ohio Avenue.
Strong winds helped spread the fire and eventually that home and three others and a garage area suffered damage, officials said.
All residents were able to get out of their homes on their own, Richmond Battalion Fire Chief Rico Rincon said.
A dog was found deceased later in one of the homes.
Rincon said 33 firefighters from Richmond, El Cerrito and the Contra Costa Fire Protection District had the fire under control at 12:30 p.m.
The displaced residents were being assisted by the Red Cross.
A damage figure was not immediately available.
