Three men stole crates of cigarettes valued at $20,000 from a delivery truck at a South El Monte gas station on Tuesday night, Feb. 20.
The theft occurred around 10 p.m. at the ARCO gas station in the 1800 block of Durfee Avenue.
The trio pulled up behind the truck, which was open.
They grabbed what they could and threw it into their black Ford Explorer, sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Leyba said.

The delivery driver walked out of the gas station and saw the three men at the tail end of the theft.
The driver was able to get a license-plate number, which turned out to be a stolen plate.
The thieves were described only as men in their 30s.
