Police are still searching for a man they said stole a car in Redwood City, threw the driver out of the vehicle and later lit it on fire.

According to Redwood City police, the incident occurred at about 7:11 p.m. on Friday in front of an apartment building in the 1400 block of Marshall Street. The suspect allegedly struck the driver in the back of the head, forcibly removed them from the green Toyota Camry and then drove off.

About an hour later, the car was found on fire near Bay Road and Charter Street.

The suspect was said to be a man wearing a mask and orange construction jacket. He was last seen running north on Bay Road and may have suffered injuries in the fire.
