Firehouse funding

The City of Sunnyvale was recently awarded $1 million from the House Appropriations Committee to rebuild the “old and out-of-date” Fire Station 2. The project is among 15 in the South Bay for which Rep. Ro Khanna secured almost $14.8 million in funding for fiscal year 2024-25.

In addition to serving the community, Fire Station 2 serves as a regional fire academy training facility for Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and fire departments throughout Santa Clara County.

Sunnyvale Community Services received $1.05 million for the installation of a solar energy system with storage to improve energy efficiency of the nonprofit’s warehouse facility. It will also fund improvements to community rooms and installation of a polished concrete coating to the existing untreated, and cracking, concrete warehouse floor.
