Motorists were advised to use another route after Caltrans closed the highway from Sanborn Road to Redwood Gulch Road near Saratoga. Debris from the mudslide remained all over the place, and workers were continuing to clean it on Tuesday.

Caltrans did not have an estimate for when the highway would be opened.

The highway also was closed Monday.

A weather forecast that included rain on Wednesday also is a factor being considered when it comes to re-opening the highway, according to the agency. The hillside near the highway remains susceptible to more slides, Caltrans said.

Caltrans urged motorists to get updated road information by going to https://quickmapdot.ca.gov or by calling 800-427-7623.
