TRUCKEE, Calif. (AP) — Two people died when a single-engine airplane crashed Saturday evening near the Truckee Tahoe airport, authorities said.

The Socata TBM9 with two people aboard crashed around 6:40 p.m. while on approach to the airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said Sunday.
The crash site was about three-quarters of a mile north of the runway, at the edge of a residential neighborhood just north of the Truckee River. No homes were damaged, but railroad tracks along the river required repairs, KCRA-TV reported.
Moderate snow was falling at the time of the crash and visibility was half a mile, the Sacramento news station reported.
The airport was the site of a fatal crash in 2021: Six people were killed when a twin turbojet flying from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, crashed on an adjacent golf course during a landing attempt.
