TRACY — An 18-year-old Antioch man allegedly driving the wrong way on Interstate 580 and a woman in an SUV were killed Sunday morning in a head-on collision, the California Highway Patrol said.

Three others in the SUV, including an infant and a young child, were injured, the CHP said.

The names of the two people killed were not immediately released.

The collision happened about 2:04 a.m. Sunday on westbound I-580 west of Corral Hollow Road.

The CHP said a Honda Accord driven by the Antioch man was traveling eastbound in the lane closest to the center divider when he collided head-on with a Kia Tellrude SUV going westbound in the same lane.

The impact caused both vehicles to overturn.

The Antioch man was ejected into the center median and pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.

The driver of the Kia, a 32-year-old woman from Fort Bragg, was transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries, the CHP said.
