California man stabs home invasion robber with culprit’s own pocket knife, police say

A Pasadena man fought back against an armed home invasion robber, got the culprit’s pocket knife and stabbed him on Wednesday night, May 15, authorities said.

The robber and his accomplice apparently left empty-handed.

The 19-year-old resident was also injured; he had cuts to his stomach and arms, according to Pasadena police Lt. Matt Campeau. Firefighters treated him at the scene.

The home invasion robbery happened in the 1200 block of Solita Road around 8:50 p.m. Police have not yet determined how the robbers got inside the home.

The resident told police he was home when he saw one man ransacking the place, Campeau said.

Another man held him at knifepoint as the other robber continued to ransack the home. The robber with the pocket knife threatened to stab the resident and lunged toward him, the lieutenant said.

The resident was able to fight back and wrest the knife away from the robber, he added.

“The victim stabbed the suspect in the left shoulder,” Campeau said.

Both robbers fled.

“The victim locked himself in the bathroom and called police,” he said.

The robbers were described as men between 20 and 30, wearing blue jeans and surgical masks. One wore a dark-colored baseball cap and carried a pocket knife.
