The solo-vehicle collision happened around 9:25 p.m. on eastbound Niles Canyon Road west of Palomares Canyon Road, the Fremont Police Department said in a news release.
Police said the motorcyclist – identified as a 65-year-old Fremont resident – hit the south guardrail protector and was thrown into the brush that borders Niles Canyon Creek. He was pronounced dead shortly after emergency personnel arrived at the scene.
The death marked the city’s second traffic fatality of the year.
The crash is under investigation, but police said they believe alcohol played a role.
