During a fight between two boys, one pulled out a knife and stabbed the other, Sgt. Lamonte Toney said. A school-resource officer and school staff broke up the altercation.
Toney said the injured student was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The student suspected in the stabbing was arrested and taken to Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall, according to police.
Emergency dispatch recordings archived online indicated that the boy was stabbed in his hip and was conscious and breathing when he was taken away in an ambulance.
The campus was locked down for about an hour as a precaution and to allow police to investigate the incident, Toney said. He added that no one else was involved in the fight, and no other injuries were reported.
Anyone with information related to the case can contact Detective Sgt. Kenneth Ellsworth at 408-846-0331 or [email protected].
