DANVILLE — After 10 pressure-packed innings on Friday evening, the North Coast Section Division I championship baseball game between Granada and De La Salle at Monte Vista High School was suspended because of darkness, tied 0-0.
Play will resume on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Granada, the top seed.
“I’ve never been a part of something like this before,” Granada coach Corrigan Willis said.
De La Salle’s Santa Clara-bound RJ Meyn pitched eight no-hit innings. Granada’s Jake Sekany allowed two hits and struck out six in nine innings.
Granada had a chance to win in the bottom of the ninth, loading the bases loaded with one out. But a 6-4-3 double play ended the inning and kept the Spartans’ hopes of capturing seventh consecutive NCS title alive.
“We’re going to prepare like it’s a seven-inning game,” De La Salle coach David Jeans said about playing on Saturday. “We’re going to have the same time line. … However it turns out is how it’s going to turn out.”
De La Salle has won 33 consecutive postseason games since 2016 — 27 in the NCS playoffs and six in the NorCal regionals.
