Outgoing Los Gatos town manager to extend term by one month

An interim town manager

Los Gatos’s outgoing town manager Laurel Prevetti will remain in her position just over a month longer than she initially planned, Mayor Mary Badame said at a town council meeting on May 21.

Prevetti announced in March her plans leave the position on June 28 to pursue other interests. But Badame said Prevetti agreed to remain in the position until at least Aug. 2. Town leaders have since March been engaged in a search for a new town manager along with other neighboring cities like Saratoga, whose longtime city manager James Lindsay plans to step down around the same time.

The town is advertising Prevetti’s position for a salary of around $320,000 per year, and plans to recommend candidates by July 8 and conduct finalist interviews July 25-26.

Sidewalk office hours

Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian will meet constituents at farmers’ markets around the West Valley next month during his “sidewalk office hours.”

Simitian represents District 5, which includes Los Gatos, Saratoga and Cupertino. He will be at the Los Gatos farmers’ market at the town park plaza on Saturday, June 2, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Simitian began holding sidewalk office hours decades ago as a state assembly member.

“Now, as a Santa Clara County supervisor, I’d like to hear from my constituents about their priorities,” his website reads.
